No other bowling alley in the entire United States has had the longevity that Detroit's Garden Bowl enjoys to this day. Garden Bowl is the oldest continuously operating bowling alley in the country. They happily celebrated their centennial in 2013 and the Bowl remains a popular destination with local bowlers. Though it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008 the Garden Bowl is no museum and lives on providing fun and good times to anyone who takes to their lanes.
Things to Do
- The Garden Bowl is available for drop in open bowling any day of the week. With sixteen lanes and a max group of six people per lane you shouldn't be stuck for space. All kinds of local leagues operate at the Bowl, from serious players to more laid back local leagues. You can sign up to an existing league or start one of your own!
- One fun way to spend a night in Detroit is to head along to one of the Garden Bowl's Rock n' Bowl parties. Here the Bowl's DJ's play out a mix of rock, punk, soul and r'n'b while disco balls and smoke machines fill the lanes with a fun party vibe. Kids and teens birthday parties can be organized while school parties are also accommodated at the Bowl.
