Activity Overview

The Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center offers a great deal of ways that visitors can enjoy the beauties of nature found in DuPage County. Whether you would like to head off on an excursion on bike or on foot or simply enjoy the relaxing space and free wi-fi in the Visitor's center you can do it all here.

Things to Do

  • The Fullersburg Woods Nature Center visitors get a great introduction to the environment that surrounds them. There are also exhibitions to be enjoyed which can teach people how to identify bird and animal tracks and also give the opportunity to see a 13,000 year old woolly mammoth skeleton. The center also has free wi-fi.
  • Teens of 16 years of older can become volunteer gardeners on-site. In this role they will assist in the general maintenance of the gardens though the amount and type of work can vary depending on the weather. It's a great opportunity to learn more about the Forest itself and how to care for nature.
  • The Graue Mill and Museum and Frederick Graue Museum are also worth a visit. You can find this former Underground Railway "station" and the mill, which hosts programs on milling, spinning and weaving, in the southern corner of the Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve.

The Fullersberg Woods Nature Education Center Insider Tips

  • They are only open Tuesdays through Sundays from mid-April to mid-November.
  • A full calender of events at Fullersberg can be found on their website. Many of these events are educational in nature and appeal to young children and families.
