Fritz Park Petting Farm is a fun, animal-centric summer attraction located in Irving, Texas, just 20 minutes away from Dallas by car or bus. Each June and July, this petting farm located in Irving's Fritz Park opens to visitors of all ages who can get up close and personal with a variety of farm animals.
Fritz Park is also home to many other attractions that are available to visitors year-round, including a 9-hole disc golf course, a playground, picnic areas, and geocaches, as well as facilities for playing baseball, basketball, and softball.
Things to Do
- Take your children to learn about and pet animals such as cows, goats, horses, rabbits, and sheep. Other animals at the farm include turkeys, chickens, and colorful peacocks that occasionally pose for photos.
- Visit the egg incubator, where you can watch chicken eggs hatch and see young chicks as they take their first steps in the world.
- Head to the pond with your little ones and watch the ducks and geese as they swim.
- Talk to the staff - they're very friendly and are full of fascinating facts about the animals living at the petting farm.
Fritz Park Petting Farm Insider Tips
- If you live in the area and have a child over 12 who loves animals, they can become a farm volunteer! Volunteers help out at the farm each summer by feeding the animals and keeping their areas clean and helping staff show the animals to visitors. It's a wonderful learning experience, so ask early in the summer to become a volunteer.
- The petting farm offers guided tours for private groups, schools, and day care centers that feature fun-filled introductions to the animals. Most tours last approximately 30 minutes and can be scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon, Tuesday through Friday.
- Bring along a picnic or some hot dogs and burgers to grill - Fritz Park has lots of picnic tables and grills that are perfect for a summer cookout once you've finished visiting the petting farm.
- Don't miss the Crayon Fun Room, where children can get a free coloring book filed with farm animals to color in at the farm or at home.
