Activity Overview

The fire Museum of Memphis presents the local history of fire fighting with a memorial wall dedicated to Memphis fire fighters. The fire museum educates about fire safety, the fire safety guidelines and tips are geared towards both adults and kids. Children can do many hands-on activities, they can play with authentic fire equipment, visit the fire room that shows how to escape from a room of burning fire. Several exhibits describing the history of firefighting. The fire museum is open all through the week, except Sundays.

Things to Do

• Visit the fire museum and get educated on safety practices, and reducing life-loss and property loss in an incident of fire.
• The memorial wall is a twenty two feet high brick sculpture, each brick carries the name of a Memphis firefighter, who lost their life in the line of duty.
• Children's play area features a real fire truck children can play on and dress up as firefighters, slide the fire pole, and the arcade games room featuring fire and life safety computer games.
• On display are the 1865 fire alarm bell, an animatronic horse that greets the visitors, horse drawn steam pumper, paramedic ambulance, and an escape maze that teaches children how to get out of a fire.
• View antique fire trucks in the great fire room, large collection of fire-related artifacts including helmets, extinguishers, the hale water tower, photographs and memorabilia.
• Host your child's birthday party at the museum, children get to explore the museum and celebrate in the party room.
• The fire museum gift shop stocks toys, clothing, collectibles, jewelry, and souvenirs.
