Activity Overview

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is an art museum located in White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. It is named after Indianapolis philanthropist Harrison Eiteljorg, and features collections of art and cultural artifacts from North American indigenous groups and cultures of the American West. It is the only museum of its kind in the region, making it an especially interesting attraction for families who are interested in teaching their children to appreciate different cultures and art.

Things to Do

• Take your little one to the wigwam, sit on the bear skin, and learn more about Native American culture by looking at beautiful objects like beaded shirts and handmade baskets.
• Explore the Western art galleries, where you'll find abstract art, commercial illustrations, traditional paintings, and many other types of depictions of life in the American West.
• Learn about Native American traditions in the Native American art galleries, which feature cultural objects from local tribes such as the Miami and the Potawatomi as well as other Native American groups from all over the continent.
