Edible Finger Paint for Toddlers

Share:

Toddlers and preschoolers love to finger paint.

Children at this age also enjoy putting everything in their mouths!

Here is a great way to develop your child's sensory skills and not worry about those tiny fingers sampling the paint - because this recipe is edible.

Edible Finger Paint Recipe

You need

  • 1 can condensed milk
  • food coloring
  • finger paint paper

What to do

  1. Divide condensed milk into small bowls. Add food coloring and mix to make different colors. (Red, blue and yellow work well.  Have your child experiment with mixing primary colors to making new ones.)
  2. Lay out finger paint paper and let children have a blast.
  3. This activity builds up those finger muscles and is great exercise for those little hands.
  4. A messy activity always requires a smock or clothing you don't mind getting messy.

How to Make it Mess Free

  • Select a color of the recipe above in a large Ziploc bag.
  • Make sure all the air is out of the bag - just liquid!
  • Seal and reinforced the bag with duct or masking tape - So nothing comes out of bag.
  • The bag will sit flat at this point.
  • Place bag on highchair or table and have children “draw” with their fingers for a great mess-free activity!
  • Great idea to show letters, numbers and shapes.
