Activity Overview

As a Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuary and working educational farm, Drumlin Farm offers hands-on educational opportunities for kids, families, and adults. Roam around in search of favorite animals, help out in the educational garden, or take a stroll through the sanctuary’s fields and forests.

Things to Do

As a Mass Audubon Society wildlife sanctuary, Drumlin Farm offers many educational opportunities for kids, families and adults.

All activities are included with admission, which is free for Mass Audubon members, unless otherwise noted.

Farmyard - Sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, cows, and our pony greet you in the animal barns throughout the farmyard, while Bird Hill and Drumlin Underground provide a unique, up-close view of New England wildlife, including a rabbit, owls, hawks, deer, and a fox.

Learning Garden - Get your hands dirty in our learning garden, too, to learn about composting, enjoy the smell of mint, and check out what’s planted in the “pizza garden”.

Hayrides - Hop onboard for a good old-fashioned hayride around the farmyard. Starting April vacation week through Thanksgiving weekend, hayrides depart from the Red Barn, weather permitting, every 15 minutes.

Hiking Trails - Stroll along our vegetable and hay fields, amble through the woods, or hike to the top of the drumlin, one of the highest points in the greater Boston area on 4 miles of trails. The view from the top of our drumlin offers a glimpse of both Mt. Monadnock and Mt. Wachusett on a clear day.

Farmstand - The farmstand offers a variety of Drumlin Farm's products based on seasonal availability, including fresh vegetables, maple syrup, eggs, meat, goat’s milk soap, yarn and fleece.

The Audubon Shop - Check out the Audubon Shop for a wide selection of products to explain, identify, and celebrate the wonders of nature, including scopes and binoculars, bird houses and feeders, books, gifts, toys, and more.

Seasonal Programs - If you are looking for a more in-depth exploration of the Drumlin Farm fields, farmyard, and habitats, register for one of our education programs. Led by teacher-naturalists, the education programs give children, teens, adults, and families a unique look at agricultural, environmental, and natural history topics.
