If you and your family love your dog, why don't you consider heading out to the Dog Park at Loch Haven in Hoover, Alabama? The park can be reached from downtown Birmingham in around quarter of an hour by car. The dog park is a great way for you and your family to let your furry friends exercise and meet other dogs.
While the main purpose of this park is to provide dogs an area to exercise without a leash, there are also activities available for humans, meaning that both the furry and not-so-furry members of your family can have a great time!
Things to Do
- Pull on your cleats and play some soccer. The park features a soccer field if you, your family, and a few friends feel like having a game! You can also use the field for other sports if you want.
- Stretch your legs on the park's walking trail. Dogs will need to remain leashed as you take them round this part of the park. Don't worry! There are areas where they can be unleashed.
- There are two dog areas depending on the size of the dog. If your dog weighs over 35 pounds, you'll have to take them to the area for large dogs. Under 35 pounds and they can play in the small dogs area.
- Test your dog's agility on the park's agility course.

- When the weather's nice, the park can get quite crowded. If you, your family, and your dog can withstand less-than-perfect weather, consider heading along without sunshine and blue skies in order to avoid the crowds.
- Consider taking a picnic along to enjoy dining al fresco without paying for restaurants, which often don't allow dogs!
