Activity Overview

If any of your kids want to be a firefighter when they grow up, the Denver Firefighters Museum is the place to take them. Here they can learn all about the history of firefighting in the area and how modern firefighters help to keep the people of Denver safe every day of the year.

The museum is housed in Denver's Historic Station No. 1 which was built over 100 years ago. Despite the name of the building, it was not even the first "Station No. 1" in Denver, with the first one being located on the corner of 15th and Broadway.

Things to Do

• Slide down a real fire pole! Kids love activity.
• Pretend to drive the fire engine. The little ones will love climbing aboard and living out their dream of being a firefighter responding to emergencies.
• Ask the museum's friendly and knowledgeable volunteers during your visit for even more information.
• Don't forget to take the younger children along to the Children's Gallery where they can learn about fire prevention and interact with a number of exhibits designed specifically for them.
• Practice your "stop, drop, and roll" technique in a fun and safe way.
