Activity Overview

This 66 acre display garden features breathtaking floral displays all year long. The one-of-a-kind 8 acre Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden is the only one of it's kind in America.

Things to Do

Enjoy great walking paths that wind through all of the gardens and displays. The plants and trees are clearly labeled, and the displays and arrangements are just stunning throughout. The flowers and ponds/mini waterfalls are amazing.

The Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden is amazing. This 8-acre garden is a completely innovative place for preschool through middle school children to learn about life and earth sciences.

The Children’s Garden features exciting indoor and outdoor stations designed with established state and national standards in mind. Each of the 17 galleries focuses on a key science theme.

Outside, children are immersed in nature as they stroll along the boardwalk, roam through the grass tunnel, explore a full acre of wetlands, cross through the tree canopy along the Texas Skywalk and explore under a waterfall.

The indoor Discovery Center utilizes technology to enhance a plant and soil lab station, and allows children to solve a CSI-style mystery in a mini 3-D theater.

There are plenty of spots that you can grab a bit of shade from the Dallas heat while taking your tour and there are rest rooms throughout.

There is a grassy area under the trees with picnic benches, and there are various other areas with benches, tables, chairs.

Dallas Arboretum Insider Tips

  • Advance reservations to the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden are strongly recommended and can be conveniently bundled with general garden admission.
  • Plan on spending about 2 hours to walk through the entire arboretum, more if you wish to dine at the cafe or restaurant or bring a picnic lunch, or if you want to take it slow or just enjoy the gorgeous environment.
  • Try to go on Thursdays to enjoy the live concerts with a picnic/wine.
  • Spring time is especially beautiful when the tulips are blooming.
