With dozens of gastronomic exhibits covering 25,000 feet of gallery space, the Culinary Arts Museum of Johnson and Wales University provides a delicious experience for everyone.
Children will love the Little Chefs Diner where their imaginations can produce creative concoctions. Foodies can peruse the myriad of cookbooks and inspect the homestyle and restaurant-level kitchens and devices.
Things to Do
- Stroll through the museum's Dinner at the White House exhibit and see presidential menus, cookbooks, photographs and china used by former heads of state and first ladies.
- Trace the history of important culinary artists in our culture through an array of memorabilia donated by those named Distinguished Visiting Chef to the University.
- Step back in time to 1833 and take in the museum's replica of an old-style, New Hampshire tavern.
- All will appreciate the unique tidbits found along the way, such as molds in all shapes and sizes that turn food into edible artwork; tools used for hunting, storing and cooking food in African countries; and mock displays of old-time diners, boy scout campsites and portable kitchens used for various modes of transportation.
Culinary Arts Museum Insider Tips
- Closed Sundays, Mondays, major holidays and during Thanksgiving and Christmas school breaks.
- Children under 5 are free, and a AAA discount is available for adults.
- The museum is wheelchair accessible except for the historic Everready Diner.
