Activity Overview

The collection held at the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum is one of the largest collections old and rare automobiles open to the public in the world. The collection is now held and looked after by the Western Reserve Historical Society and it is possible to see it at their facility in Cleveland, Ohio. Their aim is to preserve and display the over 170 vehicles they have in the collection, which does not just include antique automobiles but also motorcycles, bicycles, boats, aircrafts, carriages and sleighs.

Things to Do

• The Crawford Auto-Aviation Collection makes up the bulk of two of the Western Reserve Historical Society History Center's exhibits. The first entitled Setting the World in Motion explores the important role which Northeastern Ohio played in the early development of the auto industry in the United States.
• The exhibits lays out how over 100 auto-manufacturers came to base their operations in Northeast Ohio and how they helped shape the industry in the 1920s and 1930s.
• Auto nuts will really enjoy the REVolution exhibit. This exhibit uses over fifty cars to tell the story of the automobile's evolution from its birth to the present day. These cars are divided into themed displays which look at different aspects of this evolution such as "Need for Speed", "Invention and Design" and "Alternative Fuels"

• It is possible to search the Museum's automobile collection along with their other collections online. There are pictures of almost every vehicle in the Western Reserve Historical Society's collection so you can have a preview before your visit!
• The WRHS History Center is closed on Mondays.
