Activity Overview

Conner Prairie Interactive History Park is a living history museum in Fishers, Indiana. Located just 20 miles north of Indianapolis, this wonderful family attraction is centered around the former homestead of William Conner, an Indiana statesman and fur trader who lived there in the early 1800s. Visitors to Conner Prairie are invited to take part in a variety of 19th century activities like making candles and dyeing wool as they explore sites like the 1836 Prairietown village and the Lenape Indian Camp.

Things to Do

  • Visit the Lenape Indian Camp, where you'll learn all about the history and culture of the Lenape Indians who lived in Indiana in the early 1800s. Highlights include traditional music and learning how to make a deal with fur traders.
  • Go on the 1863 Civil War Journey and learn about the war as your child dresses in Civil War uniforms, greets General Morgan, and splashes around in the River Crossing water play area.
  • Meet the animals! Conner Prairie is home to many interesting animals, including Leicester sheep, English Longhorn cattle, and Ossabaw Island hogs. Depending on when you visit, you might even get to help a staff member feed a calf or brush a goat!

  • Don't miss your chance to ride in a tethered balloon! The 1859 Balloon Voyage attraction is open each year between April through October, providing you with memories that will last a lifetime.
  • If your child loves crafts, visit the Craft Corner any time of the year to try new activities like weaving, soap making, quilting, and more.
  • Get some exercise by exploring the 1.2-mile Nature Walk, which will take you along the levee to a lookout that provides breathtaking views of the prairie below.
