Activity Overview

The Children's Museum in Oak Lawn aims to promote creativity and a desire for lifelong learning in children by introducing them to play-based learning as early on in life as possible. They do this by sticking to the same hands on learning standards that are used by the Illinois State Board of Education when developing their curriculum for young learners.

Things to Do

• At "The Moo Café" children will learn all about the health benefits of dairy and in what foods dairy can be found. They can make their own dairy based food and drink which they can serve up to their family. Also they can milk Clarabelle, the official museum cow!
• The "We The People...." exhibit has two metal beams taken from the rubble of the World Trade Center Towers. These beams form the center of an exhibit that explores the themes of unity, friendship, helping and patriotism.
• The museum offers a space for birthday parties. For the cost of having the celebration there the birthday child and two adults can go for free. Also all attendees to the party get a free return ticket to the museum which they can use in the future.
• You can also use the Museum as a location for a Scout Field Trip. The field trip will give you 2 hours of admission to the museum and patches can be provided for an additional cost.

• Free parking for museum users can be found on the 5th floor of the commuter parking garage on Mondays through Fridays. Bear in mind that the museum is closed on most Mondays during the year.
