AActivity Overview

When was the last time you have seen a traditional wooden boat? The Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle showcases a collection which started with Dick Wagner's boat rental business in the late 1950s. By the 1970s, Dick had enough wooden boats tide to their floating home that he and his wife decided to turn it into an experiential museum. The CWB has two locations in Washington state: in South Lake Union and in Cama Beach.

Things to Do

  • Which CWB location should you visit? Go and rent a cabin for an overnight stay at the Cama Beach location or sign up for classes and workshops at South Lake Union. Admission is free is both locations but you'll have to pay extra if you want to join classes or ride a boat.
  • CWB South Lake Union offers activities ideal for the entire family such as Family Sailing Programs, Pond Boat Sailing, Toy Boat Building, and Tugboat Storytime. Families who want to get on the water can take sailing lessons or rent a boat.
  • At Cama Beach, explore the bigger Camano Island or help build a toy boat every Saturday. You can also try your hand at crabbing, allowed from July 1 to Labor Day.
