Activity Overview

The Carrie Murray Nature Center is a beautiful nature center located in Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park in Baltimore, Maryland. Named after the mother of local baseball legend Eddie Murray, this nature center is home to a large variety of native animals, including owls, foxes, opossums, deer, turtles, birds, hawks, and beavers.

Spend a fun day at the Carrie Murray Nature Center learning all about the area's diverse wildlife while visiting the fascinating Insect Zoo, interacting with live amphibians and reptiles, looking at hawks, and exploring the rehabilitation center that cares for injured wildlife.

Things to Do

  • Visit the Insect Zoo, where you'll see stick insects from New Guinea and hissing cockroaches from Madagascar. For a truly memorable experience, watch as they feed the fuzzy tarantulas!
  • Learn about many different birds of prey as you explore the rehabilitation center, which is home to orphaned birds as well as birds that need help to recover from past injuries.
  • Explore the hawk house to see and learn about these majestic birds of prey.
