Activity Overview
The Carolina Raptor Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to caring for a variety of species of raptors through conservation projects. They look after and rehabilitate injured or orphaned raptors and release over 900 raptors back into the wild every year. Alongside this great work they run research and educational programs to teach people environmental stewardship and how to care for these birds of prey. It is possible to visit their center, which hosts a number of special events, throughout the year.
Things to Do
- There is a 3/4 mile nature trail at the Center where it is possible to see numerous different species of birds. They are kept in habitats that are similar to a zoo set up so you will be able to get up close to these magnificent birds.
- Take the opportunity to become a keeper for a day. Kids (and adults) 12 years or older can take part in this program. You will help out the Center's flight team in their daily chores feeding, training and caring for over 100 resident birds. This program lasts for two hours and can be booked for any day of the week.
- There is a cool castle-themed play area for kids on the grounds.
