Activity Overview

The building that houses the Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County has stood in Crawfordsville, Indiana, for over a century and played the role of the city's library from 1902 until 2005 when a larger library was opened on the other side of the street. While no longer a library, the building is still operated by the Crawfordsville District Public Library and is a great educational destination for families wanting to learn more about the area to visit.

Whether you're just visiting Indianapolis or a permanent resident, you should make the hour-long trip northwest from downtown Indianapolis to Crawfordsville. Since converting from a library to a museum, the Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County has displayed and still displays many interesting exhibits covering the fields of art, history, natural history, and the story of Montgomery County itself.
