Camden Children's Garden

Activity Overview

Take a short trip from Philadelphia across the Delaware River, and you will find Camden Children's Garden, a 4-acre oasis containing such interactive exhibits as a Dinosaur Garden, Storybook Garden, Benjamin Franklin Workshop and Butterfly House.

Also on the premises is a tree house, playground, potting shed and several rides to be enjoyed by the little ones.

Things to Do with Kids

• Visit the Cityscape, Picnic Gardens and a Puerto Rican, tropical exhibit called the Plaza de Aibonito.
• Kids of all ages can are sure to enjoy a ride on the unique garden carousel. It has a rabbit, a rooster, a pig, a cat, a shark and even a hummingbird! Of course there are several horses decorated with beautiful flowers and a bright red chariot.
• Take a ride through the gardens on the The 600' long Arrow River Train Ride. The train holds up to 38 children or 22 adults.
• The 'underground maze' maze is designed to give you the feeling that you are tunneling underground. There are actually places where you have to crawl to get through the maze.
• Work off some energy in the Fitness Garden. This Garden provides a space to exercise young muscles and opportunities for climbing, sliding and balancing activities. Visitors can crawl through or on top of the rock tunnel, walk along a balance beam, climb stairs, slide down the sliding board or hop on the log stepping stones.
• Climb the steps or walk up the ramp to enter the Tree House for a bird's eye view of the entire Garden. You might be able to spot butterflies, hawks, and migratory birds.
• In the warm months, get cooled off at Violet Plaza, which contains colorful balls that spout water.
• The Piney Woods Amphiteatre has a variety of entertaining productions and educational presentations throughout the day.

Camden Children's Garden Insider Tips

• Hours are seasonal and subject to change (closed January to March).

• The majority of attractions are included with the price of admission. For the three available rides, tickets are $2 each or 6 tickets for $10.

• Group Reservations can be made in advance for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the months of April through December.
• The Garden is located across the Delaware River from Philadelphia and adjacent to the Adventure Aquarium, Susquehanna Bank Center, Battleship New Jersey and Riversharks Stadium.
• Garden is accessible from Philadelphia by car, train and ferry.
