Create the cutest bugs you will ever want in your home with this craft project which uses upcycled bottle caps. These adorable insects are fun to design and create and make a cute little bottle cap pet or decorative piece. Crafters of all ages can use their creative spark to devise their very own unique insect or paint their insects to look like the real think. These little critters are pretty easy to assemble, so plan to make several different species at your next crafting session!
Materials Needed
- Metal Bottle caps
- Acrylic Paint
- Paintbrush
- Mounting Tape
- Tacky glue
- Googly Eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
How to Make Them
- Paint the top of your bottle cap to depict the kind of bug that you would like to make...or come up with your own creative bug.
- Cut pipe cleaner into 3- 4" segments and bend and affix them to the underside of the bottle cap with your mounting tape as shown in the photo above. Each pipe cleaner segment comprises two legs.
- Cover the pipe cleaner with another piece of mounting tape and follow with a decorative button for the underside of the insect.
- Add googly eyes to the top of the bottle cap.
