Discover and understand the Cross Timber ecosystem at the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve by hiking or engaging in bird watching with the entire family. The Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve is home to a wide range of trails which you can use to explore the beautiful surroundings by foot or riding a bike.

Some of the activities that are suitable for the entire family at the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve include classes for children and teenagers, workshops, Scouts programs, summer camps and more.

Things to Do

  • Hike the Bluebird Trail, which is a 0.8-mile trail suitable for children as well. For a more demanding hiking experience, try the Walnut Grove National Recreation Trail
  • If you have a toddler, the Babes in the Woods class is an excellent idea, as it allows the little one to experience wildlife in a natural setting, get dirty, and listen to stories.
  • For children aged 3 to 6, the Pathfinders Outdoor Preschool offers a selection of science experiments, hands-on activities, crafts, hikes and nature lessons.
