Big Trees Forest Preserve has beautiful nature trails that you can hike with your family, get a work out and explore nature. Big Trees Forest Preserve in Sandy Springs, GA has three major hiking trails that pass through forest, streams, granite boulders, and bridges. Hikers can enjoy a hike on the trails seven days a week, biking is strictly not allowed. Trails are interpretive and maps are available. See a variety of native trees and plants, and explore wildlife. You can hike the trails from sunrise to sunset.

Things to Do

  • Hike the Big Trees Forest Preserve with your family to relax and unwind in a natural oasis, trail maps are available on site, as well as online.
  • You can choose to hike any of the three trails; back country trail, spring hollow trail, and the Jackson overlook trail.
  • Trails feature hardwood forest like dogwood, sour wood, and plants with azaleas, blueberries, and wild flowers, and the 1800s wagon trail.
  • Please stay on the trails at all times, you may spot snakes, spiders and scorpions as it is a nature preserve.
  • Water fountains and bathrooms onsite.
