Activity Overview

Bee Tree Park is a large public park in St. Louis, Missouri. This beautiful woodland area is the former property of Eugene Nims, the founder of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. A few decades ago, the land was purchased in order to create a park overlooking the Mississippi River. Today, visitors are able to explore its woodlands, fields, and lake, which are home to a diverse array of plant and animal species. If your family likes to spend time in the great outdoors, head to Bee Tree Park for a hike, to go fishing, or to enjoy a relaxing family picnic with gorgeous river views.

Things to Do

• Explore the park on a nature hike! The park has 5 different trails which are all under a mile in length, meaning you can hike them all during one visit if you want to. The Mississippi Trail features scenic overlooks with views of the river, while the Fisherman's Trail takes you alongside Bee Tree Lake, a popular fishing area.
• Take your child to the playground. They'll have a blast climbing, sliding, and making new friends on the play structure.
• Go fishing! 9-acre Bee Tree Lake has large populations of bass, catfish, crappie, carp, and sunfish that you are welcome to catch from the bank or the fishing dock.

• If you plan to go fishing, make sure you have a Missouri state fishing license.
• Bring along some food and drinks and have a picnic in the park! It has several picnic areas, including some covered picnic shelters.
• Don't forget your camera - you'll want to take photos of the spectacular Mississippi River views, as well as native wildlife like deer and wild turkey.
