Activity Overview

The Altlanta Beltine is a massive re-development program that is currently on going in the city of Atlanta. This work in progress is using a former 22 mile long railroad corridor as the foundation for a grand system of hiking and biking trails, public greenspaces, housing and rail transit. When the plan is completed it will directly connect 45 different neighborhoods and provide Atlantans with a fantastic public resource.

Things to Do

  • Although the Atlanta Beltline is still under construction parts of the plan have already reached completion. That includes four trails, the Eastside Trail, the Northside Trail, the Southwest Connector Spur Trail and the West End Trail. All of these paths are pedestrian friendly routes where walking, hiking, cycling, jogging, roller-blading and more is encouraged. There are also around seven miles of interim hiking trails which persons can use for hiking and jogging in the meantime before more routes are properly finished.
  • A perfect family day out can be had at any of the new parks that have been installed as part of the Beltline Project. Many of the spaces that are now home to winding pathways, flowerbeds, playgrounds, skate parks and sports fields were little more than landfills and places for industrial waste before. Now however everyone can enjoy a day out in Boulevard Crossing Park, D.H Stanton Park, Gordon White Park and the Historic Fourth Ward Park.
  • If you are a runner then you should sign up for one of the upcoming races in the Atlanta Beltline Running Series. If art is more your thing you can enjoy the Art on the Atlanta Beltline Series. Their brochure has plenty of details about what is going on.
