Activity Overview
Kids and adults both share a fascination for flying with balloons. The Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum will delight the entire family with informative exhibits that focus on the history and science behind ballooning. The museum was named after two ballooning champions from Albuquerque who were the first to cross oceans and continents. The place is located near the grounds where the world's largest ballooning event, Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, is annually held.
Things to Do
- Kids are in awe with flying balloons but they will be more amazed when they learn the science behind it. Get to know how a balloon works, how to design and construct one, how to control, and what's the best weather to fly one.
- Aside from recreational use, balloons are also used for science explorations and sometimes, a tool during wartime. These can be found in the Science and Balloons in War exhibits.
- Take six-year old kids and younger to the Stories in the Sky program on Wednesday mornings. There will be stories, songs, and crafts perfect for the little kids.
- If you're looking for a unique place for the kids to see Santa during the holidays, check the museum's Events page for the schedule of the annual Holidays Take Flight event. This is a whole-day event of music and crafts, plus picture-taking with Santa.
